INTRODUCTION
We are a friendly lodge. (This is what freemasonry is all about!)
THE LODGE OF MONA was consecrated in 1857 and we are looking forward to the future with a modern attitude, by encouraging younger men to join and enjoy what freemasonry offers.
Our members are men from all walks of life who appreciate the duality of well conducted formalities in a friendly atmosphere.
We are content in providing a sense of belonging and working within the community to make a good man a better one, for the benefit of all.
Our meetings start with a formal ceremony after which we enjoy our festive board together, partaking in a meal and an opportunity to become closer and connected.
Our new members are supported from the beginning and most follow a well-structured progression which leads them to becoming Worshipful Master of the lodge over time. Rehearsals for all our meetings are held 2 evenings in the months the lodge is active at 7pm. Members who are involved are expected to attend. Members are offered and encouraged to visit other lodges and complete work according to their inclination and abilities.
OUR HISTORY
Named in honour of the town.
Castletown is the former capital of the Isle of Man and is well-respected for the history of the people and acts of charity.
OUR ATTITUDE.
Castletown is described as friendly by nature and the members also fit that description.
The lodge is popular for masonic visitors who thoroughly enjoy the festive board. Good food and drink and fun in abundance within the membership.
SEEKING MEMBERS
We encourage any man of 21 years and above of any ethnic group or religion who believes in a Creator to join us We recognise each member has different amounts of time they can make available to Freemasonry and we try to ensure all members who show commitment are warmly welcomed at all times We support and encourage newer members to advance as they are able, by ensuring it matches their needs and those of their family and with no specific timetable. A personal mentor is offered to each new member, often the person that proposes them or the official Lodge mentor
